Bristol Court is a series of five office buildings on Kelsey Drive. The buildings are constructed using tilt-up concrete construction. In this design-build project, Fougere Menchenton collaborated with the contractor, Lindsay Construction, to carefully optimize the building design and construction method. When designing office parks, we frequently encounter the similar themes of requirements of a building type, that is be replicable and economical. These requirements make sense from a constructability standpoint, however there is a risk of the buildings becoming too uniform or monotonous. For this project, we used an alternating entrance location/orientation and differing colours. This strategy creates variation in the building appearance and allows each building to respond to site constraints such as sun, wind or landscape.
As a full service firm, Fougere Menchenton also provided interior design services for many of the tenant fit-ups within the building.
As our knowledge and working relationship with Lindsay Construction has expanded, we’ve continued to push the boundaries of tilt-up construction. Currently, we have completed the concept design for another Bristol building across the street which features continuous strip windows, large expanses of glass and an entrance canopy. In 2015, the project was still currently in the design phase.
