Following several rounds of conceptual programming, the Town of Clarenville arrived at the decision to construct a new fire hall via a design-build procurement process. Having been involved in the early stages of programming, RAN Engineering, via prime consultant Fougere Menchenton Architecture Inc., were selected as the owner’s mechanical and electrical representatives.
The new fire hall replaces the Town’s aging infrastructure, and makes use of modern building systems to provide optimum performance. Of note, each vehicle bay is equipped with a quick-connect direct exhaust system. While parked inside, the exhaust pipe of each vehicle is connected to a flexible exhaust hose. In case of an emergency call, firefighters can pull out from the station without worrying about disconnecting the system; the exhaust hose is designed to cleanly separate automatically when the vehicle pulls away.
